They come in various assortments of alignments.

They have become such an integral part of our society that even a layperson can easily recognize them. They are usually green in color with copper wiring running down the length of it. Its shape and size allow it to function in a variety of different devices.

These categories, according to their function, are:

 Consumer Electrical Devices:

These are the type of appliances which we use in our routine life. They include cellular phones, TVs, laptops, tablets, and washing machines. Your microwave and refrigerator have circuits installed in them.

Though the applications in common appliances are abundant, some of the uses are:

  • Home appliances which include microwave, air-conditioner, electric oven, juicer, vacuum cleaner, and water dispenser.
  • Computer gadgets such as laptop, desktops, tablets, I-Pads, and Mp3 players contain small circuit boards. It is included in monitors and touch screens as well.
  • Entertainment systems such as television, radio, a stereo system, music boombox, Blu-ray player, PlayStation, Xbox, and DVD player.
  • Mobile devices like smartphones, touch screen pads and tablets have half the components consisting of PCBs.

 Medical Devices:

Health-care has become a massive industry. Doctors depend upon electrical instruments to diagnose and treat an alignment. The dependency of the medical practitioners on electronics grow as more and more machines are in production.

There has been a lot of new inventions which has led to proper treatments and development of advanced procedures. It helps in dealing with the illness and increasing the chances of better treatment. Endless new possibilities are arising due to the evolving practice of developing new treatments and machines.

Due to the nature of the medical apparatus, a circuit board can overcome the specialized needs of the medical devices. As the size of the device needs to be small, and compact, the chips are designed for maximum efficiency to decrease the size of the package. A mechanism needs to be flexible enough to allow for both external and internal use.

The medical applications have to be portable and small so that they can be moved around as it is apparent that one wrong step or reading can be disastrous. Therefore, it is essential that every instrument goes through a rigorous inspection.

As the field of medical evolves, it has become more imperative that the instrument is compact so that they can be portable. Since they are mostly in use during an emergency, they have flexible chips which protect them in a lot of ways. It is the reason that high-density PCBs are in use in such a delicate machine. The production of the devices is also strictly regulated.

Some of the conventional medical devices are:

  • Scanners such as CT scanner, MRI scanner, and ultrasonic scanners can detect diseases. They have microchips, which help it in running smooth operations.
  • The PCB is present in blood pressure, glucose, heart rate monitor, and life supporting machine.
  • Lifesaving machines like a life-support machine and dialysis machine can give a person a fighting chance to survive. A pacemaker, though small in size, is a handy tool in controlling the heartbeat.
  • Furthermore, an electronic microscope and cryogenic, which are essential for research, are relying on PCBs to work correctly.

Industrial Applications:

Although PCBs are in use in small appliances, they are commonly in use in large machines used in big industries. The harsh conditions of the factories can only be coped with if the components can withstand. It can be anything from a chemical spill to dust and heavy knocking.

The workers are not always careful and handle the tools roughly.

Equipment such as drills, solar panels, conveyor belts, and other miscellaneous devices use circuit boards to operate.

Automotive Industry:

Cars are being retrofitted with more and more electrical systems; this means that they have. Cars are increasingly relying on electronic components in the modern era.  In the past, electronic circuits were only in use for headlight switches and windshield wipers, but modern automobiles use electronics for far more purposes. Thus it is highly likely you will find an extensive network of circuits.

Self-driving cars have sensors to guide it, and radar technology is used to detect passenger cars. It helps in the regulation of speed and finding the proper way. It has made cruise control a luxury feature for the motorist.

The circuit board in an automobile have become more complicated by the day. It has resulted in the reduction of accidents. Moreover, GPS is used to find a way. It has become a norm now to use GPS no matter where we go.

Space Exploration:

In International space station almost the whole of the station is one joint circuit board with wires running left and right. Airplanes, fighter jets, and rockets have complicated machinery. They are using circuits which can overcome any technical difficulties, so redundancy is designed to overcome any shortcomings.

Since they are supposed to leave the atmosphere, there is a lot of change in temperature, air pressure, and massive vibrations.

Even the satellites that are going in space have to be adequately insulated, and the circuit needs to be perfect in every regard. Only then can they survive the harsh environment of the space.

Printed Circuit boards have been the way of having to make machines more compact. They can improve the efficiency of the machinery. The industry has come up with many new inventions due to PCB. Even the existing technology has shown much improvement.
